By now, most everyone knows about blogs – as a matter of fact, you are reading one now. Anyone attempting to build an at home based business, needs to have their own well thought out blog. But just in case you don’t really understand blogs, shall we start by defining what a blog is?
Originally called “Web Logs” but shortened to blog, a blog is typically packed with a “log” of information. This particular blog is about strategies to enhance the chances of success for home based small business professionals – but, my my associate Betty, who owns an insurance company, told me just recently that she finds my blogging techniques very important for her small company as well!
Betty could begin blogging about insurance tips – she told me most people don’t have coverage for earthquakes and that is a “tidbit” everyone who lives in an earthquake area would find absolutely useful. Bottom line: Betty and any others with some type of specialized expertise, would have plenty of useful tips that could be uploaded onto a blog.
The main purpose of a blog is to provide value to the reader. This value can take many forms. For example blogs can provide entertainment, or facts, or tips, or ‘how-tos’, or personal information, or motivation. You get the point? The list of areas you could cover with blogs is endless.
Building a relationship with your readers is one of the most imortant objectives of a blog. Blogs help to establish your credibility by providing great content and helping you to be regarded as the expert in whatever you are blogging about.
Another friend of mine lost 170 pounds over the course of two years. She blogged every day about her struggles, her challenges, her set-backs, and her victories. She now has a multitude of topics that she can excitedly talk about in her blog. Hundreds and hundreds of people find her blog a source of inpiration – and she has been directly responsible for tons (maybe not literally!) of weight-loss through her blogging.
This blog is meant to provide top home based business professionals, (and small business entrepreneurs as well – thanks Betty), with ideas they could use to keep their businesses learning and growing. We want all of our readers to be able to build a successful work from home company, and our goal is to add value by providing expert ideas through our content.
So if you want to initiate and build a relationship with your clients and give something of value to their lives, one of the best tools I’ve discovered is to begin a blog. They are easy to set up, easy to use and a whole lot of fun!
